Education is a fundamental right for kids aged 6-14 with the notification under Section 1sub-section 3 of the ‘Right of children to free and compulsory education Act 2009’.The Act ’  shall come into effect form April1,2010 .Highlights of the Act are as follows-

• Every child of age six to fourteen years shall have aright to free education in a neighborhood school till completion of elementary education.
• No child shall be liable to pay any kind of fee or charges or expenses which may prevent him/her from pursuing and completing the elementary education.
• Where a child above six years of age has not been admitted in any school or though admitted if for any reason could not complete his elementary education ,then he or she shall be admitted in a class according to his age
• Where in a school  there is no provision for completion of elementary education within a State or outside ,for any reason, such child shall have a right to seek transfer to any other school

The transfer certificate in such a case should be immediately issued to such a child by the school in which he was last admitted
